 Hello,
New to the forums. I have a question that I was hoping someone on the forum may be able to answer.  I am looking for a USB to Serial adapter to program my BCD396XT scanner with.  Would anyone know of a cheap adapter that I can buy that works with Windows 98 thru Windows 7 64bit under $15?  I currently have Windows Vista 32bit but I am thinking about upgrading to Windows 7 64bit in the near future and would like to have a adapter that works with all versions of Windows.  Anyone know of a place online to purchase a adapter on the cheap?

Thanks,
Joey

Hey Joey-
i went on ebay and bought this:    http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-RS232-SERIAL-DB9-9-PIN-CABLE-ADAPTER-WINDOWS-7- /130382190034?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e5b6255d2

I have win 7 32bit , but i would think 64bit would work to for this. I myself just bought a new bcd396xt and freescan works for it like a charm!  The driver for the adapter is linked right on their website!

There are several others (listed in the Generic section) listed in this article...(all links are in blue)

A bit late (for huge values of "a bit") but Aten supplies 64 bit drivers.  (Belkin refuses to support older hardware on newer operating systems, so they've lost me as a customer).  The Aten UC232A, although a plain, cheap (I've seen them for under $20 BIN on eBay) adapter, works fine on my Windows 7 64 bit computers for Uniden and Yaesu radios, and other RS-232C devices.
